Position Overview

You'll be the first DevOps hire architecting modern infrastructure from scratch for a platform that supports real-time AI and social interactions at scale. You'll design systems that power personalized matchmaking for users seeking meaningful relationships. You'll have complete autonomy to build scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure while working directly with repeat founders and technology leaders.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure on GCP and/or AWS
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or similar tools
• Manage containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/GKE preferred)
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation
• Set up observability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar
• Manage and optimise database infrastructure for MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Cassandra
• Handle database backups, replication, scaling, and monitoring
• Collaborate closely with backend, iOS, QA, and security teams to streamline software delivery
• Implement and enforce DevSecOps best practices across environments and workflows
• Drive automation, environment standardisation, and cost optimisation across infrastructure components
• Own uptime, incident response, rollback planning, and postmortems

Must Have Criteria

• 4-7 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles
• Strong command of AWS or GCP services including compute, networking, IAM, and monitoring
• Experience building and scaling CI/CD pipelines for rapid, safe releases
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration best practices
• Proficient in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go
• Experienced in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, DNS, firewalls, security groups, and load balancers
• Comfortable with monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks like ELK, Prometheus, or Datadog
• Strong debugging, incident resolution, and system design thinking
• Bias for ownership, hands-on mindset, and ability to thrive in ambiguity

Nice to Have

• Exposure to startup environments or zero-to-one infrastructure builds
• Interest in privacy, security, or compliance in consumer apps
• Familiarity with cost optimisation, autoscaling, or spot instance strategies
• Experience with mobile app backend systems including push infrastructure and image/video processing
• Experience with ML Ops pipelines including model deployment, versioning, and monitoring
• Understanding of GPU optimisation and autoscaling for AI/ML workloads
