Position Overview
You'll design and build scalable backend services that power medical AI SaaS trusted by thousands of dental practices daily. You'll own meaningful technical problems end-to-end while working with a tight, cross-functional team. This role reports to the Engineering India Head and offers clear ownership of code quality, CI/CD, and data persistence across PostgreSQL and complementary NoSQL systems.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise by contributing to architecture decisions and project decomposition
- Build and evolve backend services and APIs in Django/Python with focus on performance and reliability
- Own the data layer by designing efficient PostgreSQL schemas and managing migrations via SQLAlchemy/Alembic
- Implement robust CI/CD pipelines with automated build/test/deploy and safe rollback mechanisms
- Optimize runtime performance using Redis caching and Nginx reverse proxying for high throughput
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and operations teams to translate requirements into technical plans
- Conduct thorough code reviews and maintain high standards for code quality and testing
Must Have Criteria
- 3-5 years of software development experience with deep expertise in Python and Django
- Experience building systems handling 10K+ API requests per second with high availability
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with SQLAlchemy and Alembic for model definitions and schema migrations
- CI/CD pipeline design experience with Git branching strategies and release automation
- Practical experience with Redis caching strategies and Nginx reverse proxy configuration
- Working knowledge of NoSQL paradigms and when to apply them alongside relational databases
Nice to Have
- Experience with payment gateway integrations (Adyen, Stripe)
- Cloud-native delivery experience with Docker/Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code
- Observability practices including metrics, logs, and tracing for performance monitoring
- Bachelor's/Master's degree from IITs/IIMs or equivalent top-tier institutions
