Position Overview
You'll architect and build the Database-as-a-Service platform that powers enterprise cloud infrastructure for millions of users. You'll design high-availability database systems handling petabyte-scale data and billions of daily transactions. This role offers deep ownership of critical infrastructure components while working with cutting-edge AI integration and zero-trust security in a well-funded startup environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- You design and implement Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform components for enterprise cloud environments
- You develop Kubernetes operators for automated database provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management
- You architect high-availability database solutions with zero-downtime migration capabilities
- You implement and optimize PostgreSQL internals, storage engines, and database recovery mechanisms
- You build MongoDB replication and sharding strategies for distributed database architectures
- You design Raft consensus protocols and distributed systems for database consistency
- You integrate database platforms with cloud-native tools like Vitess, Patroni, and CloudNativePG
Must Have Criteria
- 4-10 years of experience in database engineering or distributed systems development
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals, query optimization, and storage engine architecture
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB replication, sharding, and cluster management
- Strong experience building Kubernetes operators and cloud-native database solutions
- Proven experience with petabyte-scale databases handling billions of transactions per day
- Experience with distributed systems concepts including Raft consensus and CAP theorem
- Computer Science Engineering background from tier-1 institutions
Nice to Have
- Experience with Vitess, Patroni, or CloudNativePG in production environments
- Background in zero-downtime database migration strategies and tooling
- Previous experience at hyperscale companies like Google or Microsoft
- Contributions to open-source database or distributed systems projects
- Experience building Database-as-a-Service platforms from scratch
